Household Hazardous Waste and E-Waste Collection
The collection center serves residents in Macon, Marion, Monroe, Pike, Ralls, Randolph and Shelby counties. There is no charge to drop off items at the center, but the center is limited to residential items only. No business or commercial drop-offs are allowed. The collection center will be open, weather permitting the 2nd Wednesday of the month from 9 am to 4 pm and five Saturdays per year from 9 am to noon, see below for information on the 2026 schedule changes. The center is located at 42494 Delaware Lane in Perry. If there is a large amount of items being brought, please contact Mark Twain Regional Council of Governments in advance at 573-565-2203.
⚠️ This May Be the Final Season for the HHW & E-Waste Containers
Due to recent legislation, Senate Bill 1586, and House Bill 2761 the future funding for this project is uncertain and the program could close with little notice. If either of the bills ultimately passes, these collections will close indefinitely.
Unfortunately, funding for the project is already limited. Without the support of the Solid Waste District, there would be no staff available to operate the program and support collections. We truly understand how important this service is to residents across the Mark Twain Solid Waste Management District’s seven-county region, and we sincerely hope the program can continue.
While we work through possible funding options, please check back for updates. We will post information about if and when the containers will open in April and provide monthly updates so residents can confirm the program is still operating before bringing items for recycling. For now, the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) and E-Waste containers anticipate being open one Wednesday per month and periodic Saturdays, as staffing and funding allow.
It has been a pleasure working with communities across the region to help keep Household Hazardous Waste and E-Waste out of our landfills. Thank you for your continued support of recycling in our communities. ♻️
