Multimodal transportation advisory committee

The Multimodal Transportation Advisory Committee (MMTAC) was established by the Mark Twain Regional Council of Governments (MTRCOG) to guide and support regional planning efforts across all modes of transportation — including aviation, rail, transit, waterways, and bicycle/pedestrian networks.

The committee provides a forum for collaboration among local officials, transportation providers, community organizations, and other stakeholders to identify regional multimodal needs, prioritize projects, and promote a safe, efficient, and connected transportation system throughout the Mark Twain region.

The MMTAC meets quarterly, with one joint session each year held alongside the Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) to ensure coordination between roadway and multimodal planning efforts.

Key responsibilities of the MMTAC include:

  • Reviewing and prioritizing regional multimodal transportation needs for inclusion in the Regional Transportation Plan (RTP).

  • Assisting in the development of the High-Priority Unfunded Needs (HPUN) list submitted annually to MoDOT.

  • Promoting awareness of multimodal opportunities and resources within the region.

Through the MMTAC, MTRCOG works to ensure that transportation planning reflects the diverse needs of all users and supports economic vitality, accessibility, and quality of life across the region.
